Summary and Important Points Gather from the Interview

Question 1

Can be adopted in few areas:
  • Data center - Network systems infrastructure, applications severs, databases.
  • End user – virtual desktops, virtual office applications.
  • Backup facilities.
  • Disaster recovery facilities or Business Continuity Planning.


Question 2

There are few important forces:
  •   ICT supports the University business operations
  •  Striving for excellent services to stakeholders, staff, students
  •  Always looking for better and efficient, effective ways, solutions with less budget


Question 3

  • Maturity of the cloud technology, reliability and its security
  • Readiness and acceptance of the University
  • Cost Vs. Effectiveness or efficiency
  • ISP i.e internet links – Reliability
  • Legal Issues – Law govern the cloud computing


Question 4

The challenges are:

  • Knowledge and skills – new to everyone
  • Experience and reference – scare, very little shared by others
  • Education – awareness and acceptance of users or management
  • Risk management – ISP or internet reliability including cloud provider, legal matters

c.       Pilot cloud for network systems infrastructure (2012)
d.      Pilot cloud for applications or databases (2012)
e.      Pilot cloud for virtual desktops (2013)

                        Phase 2: Public cloud infrastructure
a.       Stage 1 – for backup (2014)
b.      Stage 2 – for selected applications or databases (2015)

                        Phase 3: UNIRAZAK cloud computing infrastructure (2016)
a.       Network system on private cloud
b.      Applications or databases for internal on private cloud
c.       Applications or databases for public on public cloud
d.      Backup server on public cloud

Question 5

  • Majority would go for private cloud
  • Ownership, IP, legal and institutional matters – own private cloud
